BB and I both had the day off and guess what It was pouring when we got up  – but I had a plan and we headed off to get the train into Edinburgh through torrential rain.  The plan was to visit the M.C. Escher exhibition at the Dean Gallery, as this is it’s last week.  By the time we got to Edinburgh the rain wasn’t as heavy, and it was almost off by the time we got to the Gallery.  It was a great exhibition.  By chance I had come across a programme on TV about it last night, which was very timely.  However, BB is not one to stand and contemplate art – so it was quite a rapid viewing.  The exhibition got noticeably busier, especially when a group of school kids arrived.  BB was keen to explore the maze in the grounds, but it was closed due to the wet weather.  I think that health and safety was being taken to the extreme.

We headed over to the Gallery of Modern Art for a very quick look around and bumped into a couple of friends.  They had just arrived, whereas we were ready  to depart for lunch.  We hoped the maze would have opened as we passed by again  - but it hadn’t .  BB wanted pizza for lunch, so we headed to a well-known pizza restaurant, where I was very entertained by the discussion at the next table!  It seems that BB was too, but he didn’t get it all – maybe just as well!

Next stop was the bookshop where we browsed for ages, and I treated BB to an Anthony Horowitz book.  We then thought we might go to the museum, but the sun was out, and we just wandered like tourists for a while before getting the train home.  I finished our day off with a short run.

Here is BB examining a Roy Lichtenstein work.
