Traffic

The Pope is in town, many roads are closed, there are roadblocks and detours, and morning traffic today is complete madness. Denise is on her way to Tanzania. Olga is driving Denise to the airport, Orlando to school, and then herself to work.  Kamala and Carla are driving to a different airport to set out for their honeymoon. I will soon be taking a train to one of those airports for my flight to Portland.

“A sip of wine, a cigarette,
And then it’s time to go.
I tidied up the kitchenette;
I tuned the old banjo.
I’m wanted at the traffic-jam.
They’re saving me a seat.”
Leonard Cohen.

(Leonard Cohen turned 81 yesterday.)
