Looking over Cullingworth

Today we combined to projects; a visit to Coldspring Mill just outside Cullingworth - a great spot for outdoor wear and knitting wool; the completion of my last current Big Pathwatch Square (9)

If you watched Countryfile (UK blippers) on Sunday you will have seen the bit on the Ramblers and their Big Pathwatch project. Well worth doing and it only entails going out of your door and surveying the paths on your door step. This is only the second time we have taken to the car and then less than 2 miles from home. Most of the paths add up to less than 3 miles, even less in the city. Going to do a couple in Bristol hopefully when visiting my daughter.

This is taken looking down to the village of Cullingworth from the path just above Coldspring Mill. We continued to do a few paths around Manywells and the lower end of Denholme.

I like this view especially the road in the middle distance which climbs up to The Guide and then over into the next valley and the town of Keighley. To,the lot of the road is Catstones Moor still showing a purplish hue from the heather. On the far right of the picture are the woods of the St Ives Estate above my village.
In the valley bottom you can just make out the spire of Cullingworth church often a starting point for some of our Cullingworth walks.

Quite breezy today but sunny and pleasant and making it an even better morning excursion we ended up back at the mill cafe for coffee and bacon butties! Resisted buying wool too!
