Marsden

We took advantage of the lovely weather and went for a walk in the Marsden area (just south of South Shields).

Marsden Rock (near the centre of this picture) used to be famous for having a rather dramatic arch (see the Wikipedia article here), but unfortunately it collapsed in 2005. However the coastline is still quite dramatic.

In the background (ie to the north) Tynemouth Priory, the north pier at Tynemouth, St Mary's Island, and the wind farm at Blyth are just visible - best seen if viewing large.

The extras are a rock pillar which looks as if it has a face(!), and the view inside the Marsden Grotto pub which is built into a cave opposite the rock. We enjoyed a cup of tea and a cake there at the end of our walk.

Have a great weekend everyone!
