A view from Jeanneb

On the edge.....

of Wales!

A foggy start to the day again but once we got on the road it lifted and it has been another gorgeous warm and sunny day.

We are in Bristol but had all day to get here, which is just as well as the motorway traffic was horrendous. We headed off the M5 to Ross on Wye and a revisit to the Wye Valley. A truly beautiful area on the border of England and Wales which we have visited before, most recently last Spring. Today we headed straight to Goodrich Castle in Herefordshire. It is the most complete castle of its period (medieval) in the country and well worth a visit. At one point we climbed this very steep staircase. Pretty scary in places where it was very dark, but it was worth it for the view at the top. You can see this in my extra where you can just see the River Wye on the left of the picture, the castle is built in a loop of the river overlooking Monmouthshire in Wales.

Later we climbed up to the Kymin, ( see extra two) a Georgian banqueting house with a superb view over the town of Monmouth and South Wales. Unfortunately by then the view was straight into the early evening sun which we enjoyed all the way down the valley and across the Severn Bridge, arriving in Bristol as the sun was setting.

A great start to our week here.
