I'm still in my private world of thoughts and plans, and learning a language with impossible pronunciation for light relief. I've ordered a book now to go with the downloads. Polish for dummies, it's called. Hmmmm. knowing what I know about the grammar of Slavic languages, I don't think they're ideal for dummies. Unless you start learning when you're still in nappies and dummies! However, it's all bringing back happy mermories of being in what was then Czechoslovkia, in a small shoe-maufacturing town called Zlin, to be precise.

I attended a great lecture today about the Festival of Britain (1951). It sounds and looks delightfully bonkers. My only sadness is that I never got to see the Skylon. Churchill hated it, apparently, feeling the architecture of this space needle-like structure was " too Socialist" so he had it torn down ahead of time. I'll find a link to the Skylon https://www.architecture.com/Explore/Buildings/SkylonTower.aspx, since I can't blip the sculpture itself.
