Star magnolia

We have five star magnolia bushes that we transplanted several years ago. To assist them survive the move, I pruned them heavily.  So this is the first year that they have bloomed really well while not looking as though they've just endured a rather severe haircut.

What a lovely day it has been today.  After a cool start, with a brisk breeze, the temperature rose sufficiently that we worked in the garden in shirt sleeves, then later sat outside for a pre-dinner drink. And I haven't needed to light the fire.  Daylight saving makes such a difference this time of year.
