Oak

Apart from slicing my hand open with a little router bit it all seemed to go rather well. A little box / tray for M's stained glass was made and since I managed to make it too small for the frame thing that she organises the glass and lead on, I made a new one of them as well. Some practical assistance with Ewan's homework and then cut down a big lump of oak, found by the side of the road a while ago. Three nice big slabs that will make a substantial rustic / half-arsed fire surround. Best leave them lying by the stove for a while to dry out some more and do whatever twisting and warping they want to do. And they will. The grain's mad but it'll look nice when it's sanded and there's a nice bit of beech that'll make a good mantle.
