A Day Worth Recording

We'd dropped off J's luggage last night and we had the day to ourselves. There wasn't an awful lot of point of being with J as we'd been doing that for most of the past year.

First off we wandered to the Metro station and got an unlimited day rover ticket (at a price that wouldn't have got you 3 miles one way on a Cambridge bus), and headed into Newcastle itself.  I didn't know the city but rather liked it.  An interesting mixture of buildings from the modern to the, presumably once new, castle; and, of course, plenty of bridges to cross back and forth on.

The sun was coming out so we headed out on the Metro for the coast. The blip is of Tynemouth Priory, a site that is a mixture of monastic remains and military castling. Glorious, cloudless blue sky and we laid out in the sun for a while, which wasn't quite my expectation of Tyneside.

Then we continued up to Whitley Bay and walked along the empty sands, enjoying ice creams, with E even paddling for a bit.

Back to Newcastle and had a wander around the campus with J, then headed off for a pizza.

The 'extra' is the obligatory bridge photo, but including one of hundreds of padlocks locked to the bridge, that seem to be the equivalent of notching K-heart-E into trees in olden days.
