Hawthorn Berries

These are some of the hawthorn berries that are in the wood at the side of our house. They are very pretty, but a sign that autumn is certainly upon us - as if we didn't know already - it's a bit nippy today.
I didn't realise that hawthorn berries are an old herbal medicine for the heart - although I don't think I fancy munching away on them. However I've just found a recipe for "hawthorn ketchup" which sounds rather nice - maybe I'll have a go at that. 
We also have loads of sloes - I can feel some sloe gin coming on soon.......
