Why I love autumnal moths so much!

When I saw this stunner sitting on the wall behind my trap yesterday morning I was over the moon!!!!
I think this beauty the Merveille-du-jour Dichonia aprilina,  must be one of my favourite moths of all time! I love green moths anyway, and this one is just spectacular! and so well camouflaged to look like the lichen it sits on during the day. 
The Merveille-du-jour is a common moth that comes to light sparingly in September and October, and I am always well pleased when it does!
