Further Adventures of the Pumpkin Riders

About two weeks ago, the Dancing Girls and their trusty cat-steeds set out for the Arboretum to go on a fantastic fall pumpkin ride. The Arboretum is tricked out with all kinds of fancy pumpkins and gourds this time of year, and there are many pumpkin adventures to be had!

On that day, though, somehow NEITHER of the photos I posted featured pumpkins. One featured the lily pond and the other featured the sunflowers. So we decided to remedy that by going back to the Arboretum for a second pumpkin ride!

This photo depicts just one of the many pumpkin displays scattered around the Arboretum. The cat-steeds are climbing sure-footedly among the pumpkins so the Dancing Girls can get a good look at everything. It's a little bit like mountain climbing, but with pumpkins. Careful . . . careful.

This huge pile of pumpkins and gourds brings to mind phrases like "an embarrassment of riches." For can there possibly be anywhere local where a better display of pumpkins can be found? I think not!

The song to accompany this image of all the pumpkins a Dancing Girl could possibly want is one of my favorite Tracy Chapman tunes. You can find it on her awesome self-titled first album; every single song on it is beyond good. My husband, by the way, jokes that this song is really about me and my several hundred pairs of shoes. Here is Tracy Chapman with Mountains 'O Things.
