Pictorial blethers

The next generation ...

Her grandfather is a musician. Her father is a drummer who once was a fair pianist and may be again. Now my granddaughter is learning piano and is thrilled that today she feels able to "read music". She's had one lesson so far, and will be going home to her own new piano in a few days. As I write this, I can hear her assiduously practising the tunes that teach her "C" and "D". It reminds me of when I had to play my first tune - "Buy a Broom". I could sing it to this day, 61 years later.

It's an exciting moment, filled with possibility. It could go either way. But right now, the future is bright - and musical.
