Queenstown

Another driving day for us today, with the journey from Wanaka through to Te Anau.

We set off from Wanaka this morning driving up the Cardrona Valley, and had a quick stop at an old inn from the gold rush days.

We then drove up over the highest sealed road in New Zealand at 1076 metres over the Crown Range.  The main blip is a shot from the summit down into Queenstown.

On the way into Queenstown we stopped to watch some brave souls throw themselves off a bridge attached to a bungee rope.  Not something we ever want to do ourselves, but quite entertaining to watch!

At Queenstown we tried to find a light lunch and failed miserably because it was full of bars - we ended up in KFC!  We did stop for a while watching some people doing Zorb Football https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVo8FzATac8 on a field.

We drove a little of the road towards Glenorchy before returning through Queenstown for the drive down to Te Anau, arriving at 6:45pm.  We had a wander out onto the lake front to find some dinner and took the extra after sunset on the way back to the hotel.

We found the dinosaur blip figure on a post in the park at Te Anau, no idea why it's there!
