Diary of an Edinburgher

Toto!

I do love that extra hour! Unfortunately, Archie does not understand it, and thought I should get up at 7.45 on my clock, which was really 6.45. Just as well iPads and phones change automatically, but I have to climb up ladders and reset a couple of wall clocks.

No bagels in the house, so we decided to breakfast out - just as well we rang to book a 'doggie table' by the window - it was mobbed. Archie is used to it, though, and even put up with the irritating and non-stop high pitched voice of the girl at the next table. I think I'd rather have pop muzak.

On the way back, over the Links, we met Toto. What a smasher he was! He spoke Italian! His mum had him on a lead, not trusting him to not run off. But he and Archie were playing nicely (I've added a couple of extras), and so she dropped Toto's lead. He then got obsessed with a big stick, and she couldn't get near him - he'd run off as she got near. Great game!

Then he spotted a fox terrier with a ball and ran over to it. Toto's mum took off at speed to catch him, because he would take the other dog's ball, and if it was aggressive, there would be trouble. Glad Archie couldn't care less about balls.

My knee has finally given up the ghost. Those daily three hour walking tours in Andalucia have taken their toll. I can hardly hobble around. Fortunately, I go to see the specialist this week. It's a long awaited appointment - I didn't just ring up, complain of a sore knee and get an appointment! A new knee for 2016!

So I'm excused dog walking duties - just a slow dander round the block for me now, which Archie loves - lots of sniffing. JR will do the Hill walks in the afternoons.

So an enforced afternoon on the sofa (which is what I had planned anyway). Just as well there's rugby on. With a bung knee, and a 10kg dog on me, I cannot move. JR! Bring me beer/crisps/coffee/Magnums, in any order, but keep 'em coming!
