Origins

What a brilliant start to Derelict Sunday - thanks so much to all those (just over 50 of you) who took part. Chirpy sends a big tweet too! As always a wealth of interesting dereliction including: old bikes, a huge engine, skeletal greenhouses, a circular boat house, baptismal steps,  mouldering cars, a little bit of old Cairo, decaying factories, graffitied graffiti, sinister insulators, tons of rust, decrepit pubs, distressed doors and windows, a lonely teddy and friend, abandoned churches, romantic ruins, a tiny nest, old farms: all full of memories - some rich and fruitful, others horribly bleak and disturbing.
Hearts are winging their way to:
Soletrader for that beautiful domed boathouse, I could move in straight away
Funnyfaces for that extraordinary and rather sinister wooden tiger
SueMiddleton for that sad little Paddington and his squashed friend
martindawe for his graffitied graffiti and thought-provoking text
Flying for the sad sight of that once beautiful cathedral toppled by the earthquake
All entries can be seen here: DS1

Just to remind you that you can contribute to week two of the challenge any time from now up to and including next sunday - just tag DS2 or derelictsunday2. As we're heading towards Halloween/ Samhain maybe we should try and be extra spooky and spine chilling this week??

A foul day over here, too wet to venture out (though Himself has just donned waterproof gear and gone out on the bike in search of a paper- a good 16km trip! as son#1 has nicked the car) but perfect for a bit of indoor research and thoughts on Mono Monday's challenge of origins. Here's a collection of the people responsible for mine! Thanks to Nickimaggs888 for hosting.
