A Day Worth Recording

Dulcimass

We have a Hammer Dulcimer. (Predecessor to piano before someone added the keys and hammers; looks like a tool for slicing a dozen entire cucumbers at once). It'll get played 'when we've more time'.

Anyway, that was why the Dulcimer World Congress, and it's final concert, caught our eye; that and it being in Malvern on this occasion.

Players there from all around the world, and an amazing range of styles, encouraging sounds out of the instrument we'd never have thought possible.  The evening ended with a mass ensemble all playing the one tune in styles from Redditch to Taiwanese.  Excellent.

In other news, spent most of the day in the loft, starting on flooring a section in preparation to abandoning the vow that we weren't going to put anything up there...
