As business meetings go, the annual general meeting of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club today went without hitch.
The main business — to elect and install a fresh commodore, along with two new flag officers and re-establish the main committees who are responsible for running the Club.
An active member the Club's cruising section, Brian Hinde takes over the helm as Commodore, succeeding Wing Commander Gordon Agnew, while Tony Knight, till now the Club's treasurer, becomes Vice-Commodore. Bob Trimble continues in the role of Rear Commodore Sailing, while Priscilla Kilty joins the top team as Rear Commodore House.
The new Commodore is a retired maths teacher, and as an instructor for the Royal Yachting Association plays a key role in the Club's training programmes.
