Remember

It may lack the panache of remembrance celebrations in the big cities, but honouring those lost in wars, is just as meaningful in countless towns and villages around the country.
Even more so perhaps because in close knit communities you are more than likely to know the families of those listed on memorial plaques.
Just like everywhere else, in my village the world comes to a standstill at 11am. No matter this morning there was a steady drizzle of rain - that's no more than a minor irritation for an open air act of remembrance.
There's always a danger that as years pass by traditions like this could be overtaken by riding generations who may not remember. Sadly though, some parts of the world are now more dangerous than ever and where our servicemen and women still put their lives on the line in the name of striving for world peace.
Yes, we will continue to remember.
