Journey Through Time

Delicata Squash

This is the first time I have cooked this type of squash and it's really, really good!  No need to smother it in brown sugar.  Just a bit of salt and pepper after cooking it with olive oil in the oven, and then some butter.  So sweet and wonderful!  It's a pretty squash, an heirloom variety making a comeback, or so I've read.  It's green and yellow striped.  Try it, you'll like it, if you like squash at all.

We received some bad news this morning, learning that my cousin's husband had died.  This is in my stepmom's family.  Ben had been bucked off a horse and broke his collar bone.  He died at home, probably from a blood clot that had formed and broke away.  It's a tragic loss for our family as Ben was just a good ole boy - a likable man who was generous and good hearted.  It's just so darn sad.  It's one of those things that just shouldn't have happened.

Hug your loved ones and keep them close.
