What a difference a day makes

This afternoon I went up to the orphanage to be part of a very special moment as a new resident was bought in for the first time. I will refer to him as S.
S is about 6 years old and Restart first became aware of him living on the streets of Gilgil a couple of months ago when one of our staff came to his rescue when he was being beaten up by a group of older street boys. S had been abandoned by his young mother and dumped in Gilgil. Our resident social worker commenced an investigation and finally after months of wrangling with the authorities we finally picked him up off the streets of Gilgil today. As he arrived today his face displayed utter shock and bewilderment at his new surroundings. We went back to see him a couple of hours later and he had been bathed and given new clothes to wear. This time he was smiling. Today was a life changing moment for him and hopefully he will settle with down with the 105 brothers and sisters he gained today and become a happy child, putting his traumatic past behind him.
Today we had four of our older children return back from boarding school after sitting their final exams, they won't get their results until around February, they will all be going out to do work in the community until the end of next Summer when hopefully they will be off to university if they get the right results.
On a personal note, I have spent most of the day with my leg raised and ice packs on my calf.  By pure luck I have managed to get a physio appointment with a physio who is visiting the local prep school for his annual visit tomorrow, so hopefully he will sort me out.
