Where the Old Boardwalk Used to Be

11.9C starting with rain, then dry and mostly dull. Rain and gales are forecast for later. Wind to 26 mph with gusts to 46 mph.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went for a walk after lunch. Van Morrison on the Nano (Avalon Sunset and Down the Road). We went down the road to the shore road then went over the road bridge over the railway to Westhaven beach. The tide had only just turned and had started to go out. We walked along the path at the back of the beach and the small line of sand dunes where the old boardwalk used to be and along the Carnoustie seafront to the golf courses. The waves were still breaking on the sea wall.

We went along by the first tee and the eighteenth green on the Championship course, crossed the road by Simpson's golf shop, then went up to the High Street and came back along to rejoin our usual route up the main road and along to home.

Later Maeve and I went through to Arbroath. On the way we went to the local dump where I disposed of Maeve's old bed. There had been an unexpected incident in the night that had left me no option. I ordered a new bed (soft foam mattress type) this morning online and it was available for collection this afternoon.
