Today's blip is a 2006 50p made to mark the 150th anniversary of the Victoria Cross. It's unusual relative to other medals, you can't receive it for gallantry under friendly fire (which has excluded some people - they can get the George Cross instead) and there has never been a distinction between enlisted personnel and officers. Just over 10 million of these coins were minted - 7364 coins per award of the medal.

Discovered that ibuprofen can raise your blood pressure, so I switched to paracetamol to manage my thumb. It doesn't hurt too much but it's still sore - the surgeon said it would be for quite a while.
