Flying memories

Mr. T arrived at the caravan before I returned there yesterday afternoon and when I arrived he was fast asleep!!  I told you normal service would be resumed!  Lovely to be together again though and he was riveted as I recounted to him my adventures of the last few days!!

Today the weather is foul again and a trip to Bristol Zoo was declined. Gloucester Docks was on the cards and shopping in Cheltenham was suggested ....  by me.  Neither of which we did but on our way to Gloucestershire Airport we did go and check out the newly opened Gloucester Services on the M5 as another Blipper said that they had visited and it is run by the same outfit as Tebay Services in Cumbria, so it was bound to be good, and it was.  We'll definitely be stopping there in the future on our way down south, if we need to.

Onward to Glos. Airport where in 2001 Mr T, Philip and Don set off in a Piper Malibu Mirage single engine pressurised aircraft to Biggin Hill for the start of their epic adventure on the London to Sydney Air Race with 35 other aircraft of different breeds.   The route to Sydney was the old 'Kangaroo Route' first flown by Amy Johnson in 1930.

We made for the airport cafe and were enjoying the general comings and goings of helicopters coming in to re-fuel in the adverse weather conditions, a very fine looking jet aircraft bound for Jersey and a private jet dropping off 3 women who seemed to spend only 5-10 minutes in the arrivals hall before they were off over to the car park and away on their onward journeys.  That's the way to travel.  And then this Piper Malibu came in to land and Mr T was instantly transported back to 2001 and recapturing his fantastic memories all over again.
