Grease!

One of the most dirty jobs on board is the maintenance of the tow wire. We use a sticky kind of grease for this purpose. It is more or less the same as children playing with water in your bathroom, it starts with a few drops on the floor and when it's over, everything is wet. In this case everything is black. All the A/B's and even the mates were wearing paint coveralls and this was very effective. The grease must be applied during the wire spooling on the big towing winch. With 1250 meters of tow wire you cannot do it too slow, and this picture shows you the result. But I estimate that at least 20% of the grease is applied where it was planned; on our towwire.
