November through a windscreen

Storm Barney inflicted some damage on our house, ripping off four ridge tiles, which landed on our extension with a heart-rending thump. It also snapped an aged sun-rose clean off at the base. The wind roared around the house till the small hours and then eased for a while, being replaced by a calm and and pastel dawn.

The fine weather didn't last long - by mid-morning the wind had picked up again, blowing in squally showers from the west. I sat in the car waiting for Alex at Stanground Wash just as a particularly heavy one rolled in, and felt this view through the windscreen summed up this typical November day.
