The Lake District - Day Three

This morning it was raining heavily with a strong wind so we did not go out until about 11.30am. We headed off to Rydal Water but it was pretty miserable there, rain blowing directly into our camera lenses and the wind was whipping up the water in the lake. We headed off into the woods for some shelter - this is a kissing gate leading into the woods.

The rain stopped and we had fun photographing all the water pouring off the hillside, as can be seen in my extra shots. We then walked up the hill to Rydal Cave for some shelter, and took photos of the wonderful slate in the cave. There is so much water around, the waterfalls are very full. We set off for  Rydal Falls (see extra shot) and John says he has never seen it so full before.

We had teas and coffees (and cake) in the cafe before heading back to LPH. We all managed to get some decent photos despite the weather!
