It doesn't rain but it pours

And boy did it rain ..... all day and I spent most of my day outdoors (apart from the two visits to the house to do a complete (yes complete!) clothes change, leaving piles of wet garments strewn around.

At 9:00am was at the garage to meet up with Peter to drive over to Ottobeuren with the breakdown truck. However it was in Poland! Peter does a roaring trade in accident cars, selling them on, mainly to the easterly states. Business had been great and the Poles bought more wrecks than planned and needed to borrow his truck. Quite understandable but now had a problem.

Finding a car trailer with ramps not easy and no trailer rental business  around here. Tried the agricultural machinery guys Frick & Auerbacher who I us emainly for my Tractor Tuesday Blip. They don't have such a trailer just a standard one! Tried atwo local garages both of whom said they don't rent their trailers out.

Gave up and thought I would have to hope the chicken house could wait a week until the Poles returned the truck. Drove to the farm, head bowed and not just from the rain. Saw the lady in one of the rented out sheds talking to someone repairing a large wheeled loader..... and one thing led to another.... be back at 13:00 and he would load the house on a trailer.

Back to Frick & Auerbacher for their trailer. At the agrred time got the house loaded and frankly thank goodness, I don't think the wheels and constuction would have enjoyed being pulled up a ramp by a winch.

The shed is not large maybe 2 x 3m but very tall especially as on two wheels and incredibly heavy. The jockey wheel attached to a wooden drawbar simply cannot cope with the weight. Apart from being flagged by someone after just a mile that I was losing bitumen shingles from the roof, managed to get home in one piece.

Farmer Franz was coming anyway to pick up the last railer of branches and forewarned came with the big tractor and front loader. He managed to get it off the trailer andc.... just .... safely on the ground. No way I could photograph this operation with the rain coming horizontally in torrents.

Then with darkness upon us, simply abandoned everything and headed for the house to get some dry clothing and warm up .... the temperatures are falling now as the Brits send their dreadful weather our way.
