Life at sea

I left Gili T on the 8.30am boat to Lombok ready to start the four-day boat trip to Flores primarily to see Komodo National Park and the dragons. There were 15 of us in total: me, 2 Dutch, 2 Danish, 3 French and 7 Spanish. We weren't really told much (a theme of the whole boat trip) but we made our way to the boat and left the harbour at about 11am.

The first day was just about travelling and we didn't see much. Just before sunset we anchored near the shore and all had a swim which was great. I mostly chatted to Julie and Nanna from Denmark but everyone seemed really nice.

Every meal was prepared and cooked on the boat fresh onboard and it was pretty good but basic Indonesian food. The beds were simple mattresses up on a mezzanine with no sheets or pillows. It was all fine and part of the experience. Most people went to sleep early and the boat set sail at about 10pm to travel through the night.
