Fairy forest

A somewhat better day weatherwise, which enabled Chris and I to have a walk round Old Sulehay after we'd dropped Ben in Stamford. I looked for tiny things, while Chris borrowed my 300mm lens and tried to stalk birds. There were several large flocks of redwings, fieldfares and bullfinches around, but they were all far too wary to let him get close!

This was my favourite tiny image, a fairy forest of Cladonia fimbriata, growing on an old tree stump. The fruiting bodies look remarkably like miniature golf tees!
