Water, water everywhere ...

I have never seen the outfall at Glencorse Reservoir looking so powerful as this.  Its multi routes down the valley from here to the Flotterstone Inn were also frightening in their force and speed.

Compared with what has happened overnight in Cumbria and the Scottish borders this is an idyllic scene on an unexpectedly sunny day. But it made us think of those in the flood ravaged nearby regions where even the best flood defences have been put under enourmous strain, and in some cases, have been overwhelmed by the sheer volume and duration of this Atlantic  storm, "Desmond."

The unbroken sunshine from dawn until dusk was a real bonus after so much grey and rain recently.

We also managed to secure a bargain Christmas tree from the big Blue and Yellow store on our way to Flotterstone.

Home now and preparing for my penultimate business trip early tomorrow  - and the last one to involve aircraft in 2015.

Tiggy was reminding me, quite rightly, of the correlation between flights and the effects they have on our climate.
