Memories of Summer

As we approach mid winter here is a reminder of summer next on Lake Como. The background photograph was taken in Tremezzo, and near the Villa Carlotta and shows Bellagio in the distance on the opposite shore.

The foreground photograph, of the decorative bottle of Grappa was taken today. This was a present received while I was in Italy. The only problem with such decorative bottles is that it seems a pity open them and to drink the contents. Though it could be refilled, it is not the same once the seal is broken. The bottle remains primarily an ornament.

I ordered a Grappa when I was in a restaurant in London last week. I suppose it was unlikely that a restaurant named "Loch Fyne" would have a Grappa. Fortunately they did have a small selection of malt whisky.

It is very windy this evening, maybe a  few Christmas trees will be toppled if they are not well tied down.
