Welcome back!!

The large Waving Santa Christmas decoration has graced the same spot in Willow Street,Oswestry for 20 years. He has been part of the Christmas memories of many local children and adults as he waved to everyone as they passed.

This year he was missing and a snowflake took his place. The town was horrified and a Facebook petition had 1,400 names in no time (I didn't know about this or I would have added my name).

The council said that he had been retired due to a serious electrical fault but the new lighting contractor kindly sponsored a new one exactly the same.

He was officially switched on by the mayor last Friday. Welcome back Waving Santa, the town wasn't the same without him!
