Holly from The Hollies

Today I went to a visit and guided walk at The Hollies, a Shropshire Wildlife Trust reserve on the Stiperstones in the South Shropshire Hills. It was an area farmed by workers at Snailbeach Lead Mine which lies below it. My family come from the area and was able to tell people about some of the local social history.

It contains holly trees, many are the oldest in the country and we were invited cut some to take home. The blip is of F cutting a branch and lobbing it towards the bag. One of the extras is of the reserve and it's beautiful views.

We then went on another walk around, arriving at a preserved miner's cottage for refreshments before going home with a bag of holly to decorate the house.
