Marjorie's ramblings

White Christmas?

It was raining and dreich this morning. Mum was very keen to go to the Hexham Embroiderers' Guild Christmas meeting, so we made preparations to go.

It rained on our way in and the roads were beginning to flood in places, yet again. Once we were in Hexham, snow started to fall. At first the roads remained wet and easily passable, but after a couple of hours it was clear that this snow meant business.

One by one the ladies of the guild packed their bags early. Husbands phoned with the question "have you seen the weather?"

We were making a piece of shadow applique, a lotus flower in red with sequins and other embellishments. Mum supervised my work of course.

Our Korean fir tree was already clothed in snow when we came home. It was snowing very heavily when I took this image.

The heating is on, we have had hot tea and now we are settling in for a quiet evening.
