Mono-Monday: "Mobile" - Dreamcatcher

While I was pondering today’s Mono-Monday challenge of “mobile”, my Editor suggested that I blip a photo of a dreamcatcher.

This is a rather special one as she made it herself. This was a daytime activity offered to keep us occupied during a holiday we had in northern Alberta in March last year, the prime purpose of which was to see the Northern Lights – which happily we did successfully each of the 3 nights we spent there (see a pre-membership blip here for a photo of the spectacular show on the 3rd night).

I didn’t know much about dreamcatchers before that trip, so if you’re as ignorant as I was then take a look at Wikipedia here. They have a bit of a chequered history in view of their recent commercialisation, but in essence they originated with the Ojibwe people (a group of First Nation Americans). A dreamcatcher is essentially thought of as a form of magical spider’s web, which when hung over a child's bed is capable of filtering out all bad dreams and only allowing good thoughts to enter the mind – and therefore preventing the child from having nightmares (once the sun rises, all bad dreams just disappear).

Many thanks to Skeena for nobly hosting MM this month.
