Greengate is a hive of activity at present. In this view the very big Renaker apartment development, and the new Ask office block emerging at 101 Embankment. Just to the left and out of this picture, the "hotel quality" apartment development by Select. Lots of clanking and banging going on, on a very grey morning.

Difficult to imagine that this location is where Salford grew up, over 1000 years ago, by the River Irwell. It is thought that the name derives from old form of the "ford by the willow tree" (Salix of course being the Latin for willow). The archaeological digs undertaken before each of the developments have moved forward have produced some fascinating results.
