Winter Solstice

We are a bit mad on calendars.

One of them does not go up on January 1st, but on the day of the winter solstice.

Our travels over the years have largely taken us to (other parts of) Europe. But in 2009 we pushed the boat out (not literally, it would have taken too long) and had a two city break, first in Chicago (fantastic) and then San Francisco (great). It was in the latter that we picked up the "Chris Hardman's Ecological Calendar" and we've been getting it ever since. That for 2016 is our seventh.

Two panels, each three feet long and two feet deep it needs a lot of wall. I love the design. One panel is full of astronomical data of all sorts, the other focusses on the fauna and flora of the seasons as they move on (with an emphasis on north america).

The only downside is that this wall now has a lot of pinholes. And I need to remember when the solstices and equinoxes are, as that is when the panels need changing over.

The blip is just a corner of each panel.
