Boxing Day on Henley Street

Having spent the day indoors yesterday I was determined to get some air today so I walked into town via Shottery Fields and met Ann on Henley Street.  It had been quite quiet walking in, though Henley Street had a bit more bustle, complete with hot chestnut stall and this pair of street entertainers.

Some of the shops and cafes were still closed though luckily, though not for the staff, Nero was doing a brisk trade. So we holed up there for a while before going home for lunch.

This afternoon we relaxed, our visitors from yesterday having departed for Worcester.  No cooking today; there are plenty of leftovers from yesterday to see us through.

In case you’re interested in what we had for Christmas day lunch it comprised:  a butternut squash and spinach casserole  topped with a fennel crumb, mushrooms and stilton pasties, vegetarian sausages, honey-glazed roast carrots, roast parsnips and potatoes, and of course, plenty of sprouts; washed down with wine and beer.
