Farewell to my favourite Christmas decoration

This illuminated resin house has been a favoured Christmas decoration at our place for many years.
That’s while it was illuminated. This year we placed it caringly in the bow window where it has provided a welcoming yuletide message to callers and passersby, and on the second day, the bulb blew.
Simple. All we need do is to replace the bulb, but seemingly even our humble Christmas decoration has fallen foul of new rules about light bulbs, and which require us all to make a switch to expensive so-called longer lasting and more efficient light bulbs.
For a start I have yet to be convinced that the new style bulbs are any more efficient and it is questionable whether they provide as much light. And as for longer lasting .  . . well, that’s another story altogether!
But my unassuming little resin house, seems to have outlived its attraction.  Could I find a replacement bulb for it? Not in any of the places I tried, even those specialising in  a) Christmas decorations, or b) lighting and light bulbs.
OK, our little house is still quite attractive and with other decorations makes up an inspiring Christmas display. But sadly without interior illumination which is the real focus.

Something tells me this is another piece of useless legislation stemming from European politicians that we don’t need.
