Just In The Nick Of Time

I got a new computer today.  It's an ASUS laptop with lots of memory and do-dads.  It has a wonderful back lit keyboard which will really help me type a lot.  My current keyboard has 17 keys with the letters worn off.  It makes typing a real adventure.

The problem is, of course, is that it comes loaded with Windows 10.  Microsoft will stop supporting all of its other platforms next year so it is encouraging people to take advantage of the free downloads, anyway.  So I guess this was inevitable.  But it's really  confusing!!

They told me all of my Win 7 software would work on it, too.  WRONG!
The most important one for me, my Canon software, won't load.  Yikes!  The guys had me downloading pictures to Dropbox then dragging all of them into my pictures folder where there are no thumbnails.  It's a disaster.  There has to be a better way.  I'm open to suggestions.

The touch screen is nice and he showed me how easy it is to use the touch pad.  I may use that more often than I have on this laptop but I bought a wireless mouse to use with it,  just in case.  It will take me some rime to get it up and running with all of my addons in Firefox and favorite bookmarks in the toolbar.  I'm also going to take my time to get used to it before I begin using it full time.

I'm sure eventually it's going to be great but change is hard for me.  I'll send the HP in for a new keyboard before my extended warranty expires (soon) and keep it as my handy-dandy backup, just in case frustration overtakes me.  I'm looking forward to using that back lit keyboard!
