Life through the lens...

Positive

Not sure which photo to blip today.
The other one is my extras.

So on the positive side, you have this little hellebore, which looked so pretty flowering in the gardens of Oakwell Hall this afternoon.
The weather has been Spring like again today, and so after lunch I decided to have a walk round our local country park.
As did scores of other families and dog walkers. Enjoying the sunshine, and walking off all that Christmas food!
Many of the children also had their new bikes and scooters with them.
It certainly felt good to be out, and actually not too much mud!
Although the stream was running fast, it was not overflowing. Dogs and children enjoying a paddle!

The other photo was taken this morning from the bridge over the river Calder in Brighouse.
The water has now subsided, and it was hard to imagine that the place was flooded only a few days ago.
The only tell tale signs was all the debris on the banks of the river, and lodged high up in the trees.

To me one of the most worrying part of these floods are the bridges which have collapsed.
One over the river Calder at Elland, and just a couple of hours ago  the bridge at Tadcaster over the river Wharf.
These old stone bridges have been there for well over 100 years.
Fortunately they had both been closed, so no lives were lost. It could have been much worse.
This bridge is also under threat See my blip 27 August.

I only hope and pray that the next storm, due tomorrow doesn't do any more damage.

Stay safe.
