Preparing for New Year Eve

First, many thanks for the good wishes for recovery from my poor current state and the congrats on 100 blips. Sorry I haven't been able to respond to the individual comments.
This is one of the 'busiest' days of the year for us as not only is New Year a big celebration for Romanians, rather like the Scots, but 31 December is also Petronela's birthday. Romanians do not go out for a birthday celebration but stay at home with loads of food and drink and friends, neighbours and family drop in.
One traditional dish is carp. My sole contribution is to clean it and cut it up.
Here he is before being cut into slices. It's fried and accompanied by 'mujdei', basically crushed garlic in oil, water or even milk.
