But, then again . . . . .

New Year's Day Triathlon.

The Embra triathlon has been one of the fixtures of the New Year's day celebrations for just over twenty years and, having competed a few times I thought it would be good to go and take a few photographs. It will take a little practice to become competent, but there's always next year's event. As a fellow spectator commented, one of the nice things about the event is that all sorts of people compete; half of today's field  were doing their first triathlon. Pride of place goes to this gentleman, was probably raising funds for a heart transplant charity; it is unlikely, but possible, that he was riding with a transplanted heart. Whatever, I was stationed near the top of a rather demanding hill and saw him go past three times, and each time he was smiling and showing everybody the logo over his heart. The two in the extras are of more serious competitors; while the lady is taking the calculated conservative approach and thinking about the four mile run, while the man has thrown  all caution to the winds.

There are going to be a lot of people with sore knees tomorrow because they didn't listen to their mothers and protect them from the cold.

Blip Central have requested that we include something about what blip means to us. Well, in spite of having been interested in photography for over sixty years, Blip has rejuvenated my interest; without it, I would not have spent the last three years striving to improve my skills. Equally importantly, I would not have made friends of people that I have never met, both locally and on the other side of the world.
