Another busy day

Becky and Mike had an early morning run before breakfast.  The weather was terrible - heavy driving rain.

We all relaxed for a bit before setting off for The Snowy Owl near Cramlington where we had a table booked for lunch.  Hadn't been there before - found it to be a lovely old country pub with good food.  I chose from the lunchtime special menu and had prawn cocktail followed by chicken in a tomato sauce with rice.

The pub was right next to  Northumberlandia  so we decided to take a look.  Set in a 46 acre community park Northumberlandia - The Lady of The North -  is  a stunning human landform sculpture of a reclining lady. Made of 1.5 million tonnes of rock, clay and soil, she is 100 feet high and a quarter of a mile long. You can see a couple of  photos in my extras.  The quality is not good as the weather was really bad - rain, wind and mist.  We didn't stay long as we were getting soaked through.

We had intended heading for the coast but didn't fancy it in the end because the weather was getting worse so we headed back inland.  Ended up at The Range - a recently opened shop near the Metrocentre.  I got a few bits and pieces. It was really busy and we had to queue to get into the car park and queue to get back out.

Then we came home and spent a few hours just relaxing - and getting warm again.

Neil arrived later after he had finished work and we all headed down to the village.  First stop was Wetherspoons for a drink. I shared a pitcher of " The Godfather " cocktail with Becky - Amaretto, Scotch Whisky and cola.  It was very nice. Then to Deano's - an Italian restaurant.  I had salmon with chips ( not very Italian but very nice ). My blip shot is of Neil in Deano's.

Back home in time to watch Match of The Day on TV.  Newcastle were away at Arsenal today - and they lost.

Its a tradition that I have some quiz questions ready for when Becky and Mike visit at this time of year so we had " The Quiz ".  Mike was the victor by a small margin.

Another late blip for me as I had to wait till everyone else was in bed to upload my photos.

Extra news - my sister in law broke her ankle today and is in hospital overnight as she needs an operation tomorrow.  Because of this she wasn't able to go to the airport to see her daughter off on her journey back to Australia where she lives.
