Beddgelert boyos (day three)

(day one started there)

Well well. Didn't yesterday turn out to be fun:

1)The planned walk was abandoned before it was even started given the fact the heavens opened and the foggy mist stuff clouded the mountain we were all hoping to gander over, forcing us to stay in the nearest pub all day (well, everyone apart from me that is. I started to suffer from cabin fever straight away so opted for a walk in the rain, which turned out decidedly ACE and bluddy AWEFUL at the same time (my waterproof walking boots were no match for the amount of rain lashing down). I made it along the Glaslyn gorge but that was it, instead doubling back to the tent to survey any damage and get into something less sodden).

2) the tent partially collapsed, filling the bedroom compartments with mud and rain and swilling the entrance with sodden BBQ ashes.

3) road to the campsite flooded

4) the river running through the campsite burst its banks after enduring a months worth of rainfall in one day, bringing the torrent up to about 10ft away from our tent (which was originally about 100ft away from the river on an elevated field)

5) we had to sleep in the cars, snoring and farting our way through the night thanks to a whole day of eating pubgrubandcrisps and drinking far too much lager, bitter, Guinness, brandy, whisky, vodka and aftershock between us.

But you know what? IT WAS ACE (or 'tydee', as we say round our neck of the woods) - especially when the bad weather had vanished this morning and we were greeted by the most wonderful sky.
