Plates of the Past

It used to be that you couldn't watch a TV program, or open a magazine without having an ad for collector plates. Anything from Norman Rockwell, to the latest Disney movie. At the time, they sold for $14.95 to $24.95. The idea was...to buy one, for say, 20 dollars...hold on to it...and eventually double or triple your money. Easy money.

But, just like Beanie Babies, the idea didn't pan out. Nowadays, the consignment stores laugh at you when you bring them in, and you can pick them up at Goodwill for a couple of dollars.

I used to buy them, not for making money, but because I liked the subject. These are the only four I have left. A fawn, a moose, a cardinal, and a bear.

Probably, in my next den sweep, these will disappear too.
