Lichfield Festival

The 31st Annual Lichfield Festival - it's that time again.

One of the highlights for me is the Young Artist Concert series which is held at lunchtime in the Lady Chapel in the Cathedral.

I braved the rain (and the dire warnings of serious floods) to go along to see 20year old Scottish guitarist, Sean Shibe. His repertoire today included Bach (magnificent), Rodrigo (not the famous one but he's playing that for the BBC later in the year), Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Britten (not my favourite).

He is an extremely talented up and coming young star who, as well as his outstanding playing, engages really well with his audiences, bringing them up to speed with the background to the pieces in a light-hearted and intelligent way.

Obviously I didn't take any photos of the performance but I did try to take photos of the wonderful cathedral adorned and full of technological equipment and art work.

But really, nothing compares with the simple beauty of Britain's most under-rated cathedral.
