Riding the Waves

Such a wonderful day and so lovely to see the sun and blue skies. Luckily Julie must have read my mind and suggested a walk on the beach. So we headed down to Rosemarkie where the waves were crashing against the sandy beach.
Two surfers had just arrived and swam out to catch a wave or two. It was interesting watching the waves that went from a gentle whoosh to big whooshes, one catching Julie out ;)
It was warm in the sun even though the thermometer read below zero when I left home.
Sad to see a few Little Auks washed up having found the rescent conditions tough. Did see one on the surface which looked well and flew off.
Went to Avoch with Mike and David later as they needed their hair cut again and had a walk around the little harbour. The Fishing Boat Zephyr was getting ready to go out. The sea was flat calm now with great reflections. A little grebe bobbed up and down, vanishing out of sight for quite sometime as it ducked under the surface.
Now cold again and the decking is already covered in ice.
