Life in Sunny Dubai

This is what is happening on the piece of land where people who work at DWTC parked their cars. Yet another skyscraper will be built here. It will drastically change things when it comes out of the ground and gets to its full height. From one angle, it will hide the iconic old building that initially signified Dubai's progress and place in the Gulf.

A slightly fraught day today... the landlord's rep who looks after the building didn't pay the utility bill for the common areas which resulted in the electricity being cut (1 month after the Final Notice), which resulted in the pump not being able to get the water up to the tank, which resulted in us not having any water! Ugh. Well, not just us; everyone.

I felt the pressure go right at the end of my shower in the morning, but figured, with two restaurants at ground level, any water problem will be sorted by the time I get home. Not on your life. I can't get my head around the way some people in this part of the world deal with things.

Anyhow, if it wasn't for G coming home straight from school and taking a photo of the Final Notice which I then whats apped to the landlord's rep so he could go and pay the bill, we would still not have water.

We went out for dinner and stayed out as long as possible for the problem to be fixed. Apparently, it had only been back 15 minutes before we got home. All good now. :D
